Happy Blogaversary! Living on Cents is OFFICIALLY 1 year old!

Hey everybody! Last week, it was my Blogaversary for my blog, Living on Cents! Living on Cents is OFFICIALLY 1 year old! That means I have been blogging for a year now! WOWEE! ๐Ÿ˜€

*insert Dumbledore Party Hard gif here*

I don’t particularly have any exciting future plans for Living on Cents, but my current plans going forward are to try to be active on it as much as I can. As you have all noticed, I am averaging about one blog post per week now and I would like this change in the future, but I am afraid it is all I can manage for now. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ In an ideal world, I would like to manage at least two blog posts per week, which would be good for any blog in general in my opinion, but sometimes it gets too late in the day for me to write a blog post and some days when I am suppose to be writing a blog post either for the week or from my weekend, I just do not feel up to it. I would not do very well if I was a professional blogger you could say… Dx

But I do want to keep writing Living on Cents because I feel there is a need for people on SSI such as myself to have a voice in the blogging world about wanting to participate in the Personal Finance community even though I do not write a lot of Personal Finance-y kind of stuff. But I do love Personal Finance anyway and wish to keep everyone up to date with my current life on SSI though. ๐Ÿ˜€ It has been said by Toni Morris, “If there’s a book you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” In my case, my “book” would be my blog, Living on Cents, and it my honor to write it. ๐Ÿ™‚ The reason why I started Living on Cents was because I never heard a person in my own position in life write a personal finance blog on the internet. I got tired of searching for key words carefully to filter out results in search engines of what people on SSI go through and the daily struggles they face and I decided that I wanted to add my own voice to the conversation; but in a blog format.

I know my blog is still very small and not well known, but regardless, I think it is something that is needed in this world and I’m afraid if I ever stopped writing Living on Cents that I would never hear anyone else’s voice in a blog similar to my own ever again. I have decided that in my life, I wanted to be a voice that made a difference in only a small way or another and to say to you, all of the wonderful readers of my blog that may or may not be on SSI, is that I get it. I understand completely. There is a lot of suffering in the world and not having a lot of income, or being forced to not save over $2000 on SSI just because it is a part of Social Security’s rules for people who are disabled physically or mentally living on SSI (and a VERY outdated rule at that) in the RICHEST country in the freakin’ world, the United States, is beyond insane and a sin if I were to put things bluntly in a term that could be understood by anyone. I want you all to know, the people reading my blog who may recieve SSI, that you are loved and people do care about you even though the world and our current leaders seem to look like they do not care in any way. At least, that is what I believe when I read comments from people on the internet about how everything is put up like an impenetrable shield against us, whether you are on SSI or not. It does not matter the country you live in either, it seems that in every country in the world, the problems facing people in the United States, are the same everywhere for the average person. And that is wrong.

I won’t get into things too much because my blog is not a political one, but I’m sure everyone understands what I am talking about. But to conclude, I just wanted to be one voice in the Personal Finance blogging community that takes another route that slightly differs from other PF bloggers’ personal finance journeys and their journeys to FIRE if they are chosing to take that route in their lives. And writing Living on Cents is my voice even though it may be a little different you could say, haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

So I guess that is it for my Blogaversary message! ๐Ÿ˜€ Hope ya’ll enjoyed it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Like I said, I don’t really have any big plans or anything new that I want to add to Living on Cents in the upcoming future, but I am going to keep blogging and making great posts I hope everyone will enjoy reading! To tell you the truth, irl, my life is not very exciting, but I try to keep things interesting around here regardless! ๐Ÿ˜€

Here is to another great year of writing Living on Cents and I hope all of you will keep reading! Thank you so much for supporting Living on Cents this year and here’s to another great year of blogging and beyond! All of you guys rock! ๐Ÿ˜€

Til’ the next blog post! ^ _^

  1. Congrats on your first year! Although I live on the other side of the U.S. and I live a totally different life from you, I really enjoy your point of view and I admire your bravery in putting yourself *out there* on the internet and sharing your unique voice. You have a lot to teach others in your situation and those of us who have never been there. The internet can be nasty and cruel at times but it can also be a wonderful place of learning and support. Thanks for being one of those supportive empowering sites. Best wishes for many more years of blogging!
